Basic rules for the contests are:
For November and December 2001 "Real people in Fantasy Situations."
Picture George Washington crossing the Styx. Imagine Arnold Schwartzenegger actually meeting Conan. How about Ted Kennedy arguing with a Leprechaun or Santa dealing with a union strike at the North Pole . . .well, you get the idea.
* * *For September and October 2001"Fantasy Creatures in Real Situations." This topic was fun. Imagine a leprechaun dealing with an automated answering service; a vampire trying to get a personal loan; a werewolf being recruited to play football.
* * *For July and August 2001 The topic was, "Cloning".
A story involving any aspect of cloning. Set in any time line on any planet and for any reason at all. Of course, with any species at all!
* * *For May and June 2001 we had the "Shadow" contest. Jean made it a little tougher by starting everyone off with this paragraph: "It started out like any typical day in suburbia. Percolators perked, toasters toasted, garage doors opened to disgorge cars heading toward the freeway. Everything was beautifully ordinary, until the shadow...."
* * *For April 2001, we had the "Strange Dragon" contest. Webbie started us off with only a sentence. "There is a dragon in the lobby" Writers could use it anywhere in the story they wanted to.
