GREGORY-PHILLIPS, INC. INTEROFFICE MEMO

From: Dan Thomas, Recruiting,
To: Jack Williams, Personnel
Date: July 2, 2001

Jack - I’ve enclosed the resumes of the candidates who stopped by our booth at the job fair on Thursday. Turnout was poor, and I have to admit that none of these looks very promising. However, I’m aware of your need to fill the position in question as soon as possible.

By the way, if you should decided to hire candidate M.E. Dusa, make sure you discretely mention our unofficial company policy regarding dress and grooming. Ms. Dusa needs to be aware that dark sunglasses and dread-locks constitute inappropriate office attire.

E-mail me if you have any questions.

Dear Mr. Johnson:

Your request for a referral for a Ms. M.E. Dusa, one of our former employees, has been forwarded to me. Considering Ms. Dusa turned two interns, the Director of Total Quality Management and the Supply Room Coordinator to stone, I’m afraid I can’t recommend you hire her.

Best of luck in future endeavors,

Jack Williams

MEMORIES OF STONE

Speech notes for Herman Brown, CEO, December 14, 2002
Prepared by Allie Wescot, Administrative Assistant

I’m pleased to announce that this year’s Memories of Stone Employee of the Year Award goes to (PAUSE) M.E. Dusa (DOO-SAW). (PROBABLE APPLAUSE) Ms. Dusa, affectionately known around here as “Emmie,” (SMILE) has been with our production department just over a year.

Some of you may not know this, but a few people thought we were taking a risk by hiring Emmie. After all, her previous three employers had let her go.

However, their loss was our gain. (CHUCKLE) Memories in Stone was experiencing significant financial difficulty at the time, as we had sunk most of our capital into researching new technologies for cost effectively preserving our customers’ memorabilia in marble and granite. But, thanks to Emmie, we have been able to virtually eliminate all production costs! (PROBABLE APPLAUSE)

As a direct result, we have been able to put our two main competitors, Baby Shoes O’ Bronze, and Silver Memories, out of business!

So, Emmie, come on up to the podium. We have a company T-shirt and commemorative mug for you. (PROBABLE APPLAUSE) (AVOID EYE CONTACT)
