Captain America casting rumors: Ryan Phillippe speaks!

Ryan Phillippe confirmed that he is one of the actors in consideration for the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America in Marvel's The First Avenger: Captain America.

While he appeared on a panel for the comedy MacGruber at the South by Southwest Film Festival, we got up and asked Phillippe if he was game for the franchise and crossover movies that would come with Captain America. Phillippe hinted that he's been far enough along in talks that even his kids are getting excited.

Syfy greenlights offbeat superhero pilot Three Inches

Syfy has ordered the 90-minute pilot Three Inches from writer Harley Peyton, who wrote more than 20 episodes of David Lynch's groundbreaking television hit Twin Peaks.

The pilot focuses on Walter, a daydreamer turned unlikely superhero, who has the ability to move any object using just his mind ... but no more than 3 inches. He finds himself recruited by a covert team of superheroes who have their own extraordinarily ordinary abilities.

Avatar hits DVD 4/22—but you won't need those glasses

We knew Avatar would be coming soon to DVD and Blu-ray, but we didn't know exactly when ... until today. Fox Home Entertainment just announced that James Cameron's blockbuster will be simultaneously released in most markets around the world on April 22, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Will Star Trek's Brannon Braga launch Fox into space?

Brannon Braga's coming back to sci-fi ... maybe. Braga, who co-created FlashForward, served as executive producer on Star Trek: Voyager and Enterprise and acted as co-producer on Star Trek: The Next Generation, has sealed a hefty seven-figure deal with 20th Century Fox TV, where he's spent the past two seasons working on 24, Variety reported.

6 1/2 spoilery reasons to tune back in to V

When ABC's re-imagined sci-fi invasion series V ended its four-episode run last year, fans were left with several cliffhangers: Father Jack (Joel Gretsch) was mortally stabbed; Valerie (Lourdes Benedicto, below) learned she was pregnant (possibly with an alien baby??); FBI agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell, above) found out that her son, Tyler (Logan Huffman), was aboard the alien mothership with Lisa (Laura Vandervoort), whom we learned was the daughter of Queen V Anna (Morena Baccarin); and Chad (Scott Wolf) discovered that he had a lethal brain aneurysm.

You can catch up when ABC airs a clip show V: The Arrival next Tuesday at 10:06 p.m. ET, but to prepare you for the return of new episodes on March 30 (at 10 p.m.), executive producer Steve Pearlman offered up some spoilers for the remaining eight episodes this year and talked about what's new and different.

Repo Men cut Jude Law's favorite scene

Jude Law's favorite scene from the upcoming sci-fi film Repo Men is nowhere to be seen, and Law's pretty pissed. OK, it's not that big a deal, but he did hate to see it repo-ed.

Lost's 'Juliet' reveals a big secret

Last time we saw Juliet Burke (Elizabeth Mitchell) on ABC's Lost, she was dying in the arms of her true love, Sawyer (Josh Holloway), after being pulled from the bottom of the destroyed Dharma Swan station and after telling Sawyer, "I have to tell you something important." That was in "LA X," the two-part opener to the sixth and last season, which is now airing.

So will we see Juliet again? (Big spoilers ahead!)

On set: Jeff Bridges on coming back to Tron 28 years later

We've been Tron geeks since the very first time we saw the original movie back when legwarmers roamed the earth, so imagine our delight to be invited to the set of the upcoming sequel Tron Legacy back in June near Vancouver, Canada. Following are our first impressions of the film, as well as our interview with star and new Oscar winner Jeff Bridges, who plays a dual role: Kevin Flynn and a computer program called Clu.

Ironically, as this movie revisits a cult phenomenon of the 1980s, our set visit coincided with news of Michael Jackson's death the same day: June 25, 2009. (Spoilers ahead!)

Jack Kirby's estate sues: Will Marvel lose control of Iron Man?

Looks like Iron Man's biggest threat isn't Whiplash, the villain of this summer's blockbuster sequel, but rather a lawsuit that puts the character's ownership—and that of many other Marvel superheroes—in jeopardy.

Jack Kirby's children have officially sued Marvel to terminate copyrights and gain profits from Iron Man, Spider-Man, the X-Men, The Incredible Hulk and other characters, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Another possible Captain America? Yes—Channing Tatum

[Updated: Now deadline.com is reporting that Marvel Studios has approached G.I. Joe star Channing Tatum to play Captain America, and that it comes down to Marvel making an offer, and Tatum either accepting it or rejecting it.]

Is there any leading man in Hollywood who hasn't been considered for the role of Captain America? Though director Joe Johnston said last month that he had hopes of casting an unknown actor, the list of known actors whose names we've heard tossed about as being possible candidates continues to grow.

Hugh Jackman's robot Rocky movie finally finds its son

That open casting call for Hugh Jackman's Real Steel co-star we told you about last month? Looks like the nationwide search didn't turn up a talented unknown to fill the part of Jackman's son in DreamWorks' robot-boxing movie after all.

According to The HollywoodReporter, the role went to 11-year-old Canadian actor Dakota Goyo, who previously appeared with Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Hartnett in 2007's Resurrecting the Champ.

10 natural formations that might've been built by ancient aliens

The theory that alien astronauts visited Earth a long time ago has always been a hot sci-fi topic, with numerous franchises and hit films built around the notion that aliens gave us a cultural kick in the rear.

What's puzzling is that in none of these franchises do aliens advise man to turn down housing loans he can't afford. Scientists believe this is because ancient aliens were dicks.

Watch the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies prequel trailer

Forget sequels—what every hit deserves these days is a prequel, right? And since Pride and Prejudice and Zombies quickly turned into an undead juggernaut, it was only a matter of time.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls, which goes on sale March 23, is set four years before the bloody events of PP&Z and shows how Jane Austen's Elizabeth Bennet turned from a naive teenager into a slayer of the undead.

Edgar, Shamus and Anthony awards finalist Steve Hockensmith continues the Austen/zombie mashup now that Seth Grahame-Smith has moved on to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
