Suggested Etiquette for Contacting Agents:
- Do not send attached files containing manuscripts to agents unless the agent's guidelines expressly state that those are acceptable within initial correspondence.
- Email messages should be kept to a length of one or two pages unless explicitly invited to send a manuscript or sample chapters.
- Authors should advise an agent where the agent was found listed. This helps them offer updates to any incorrect listings.
- Do not send synopses to screenplay
agents or movie production companies.
Some listings offer legal services only:
- Do not send queries or submissions to legal services unless the agency specifically states it handles both literary and legal representation.
For uniformity, P&E lists agents by first name just like businesses because businesses don't have last names.

- 5/24/06 - One of yesterday's events was among the worst ever perpetrated by Barbara Bauer whose rantings and unfounded threats led Absolute Write's ISP to block them. Fortunately, AW now has a new ISP.
By the way, Bab's complaint was that AW published her email address. Hey Babs, do you mean the same one at Barbara Bauer Literary Agency, Inc.? I thought you wanted to be contacted by writers? Oh, but not by any knowledgeable writers. Tsk, tsk, picky, picky, picky.
- 10/26/06 - Believed a member of IILAA.
- 5/6/08: Ciiizen Media Law Project reports that Wikimedia has filed a motion in the Bauer v. Glatzer case. Just goes to show that Babs doesn't understand that when the law gives immunity to something, you don't get to sue it.
- 7/1/08: Wikimedia's Motion to Dismiss the plaintiff's complaint against them as one of the multiple defendants in the case brought by Barbara Bauer was granted by the court. Most of the complaints were dismissed with prejudice while one was simply dismissed.
- 7/3/08: More good news. P&E just learned that Brian Hill and Dee Power were dismissed as defendants in the Barbara Bauer vs. Jenna Glatzer et al. lawsuit.
- 9/24/08: Some more good news in the case of Bauer v. Glatzer, et al, two more defendants have been granted dismissals from the civil suit.
