Car Accident

by Debbie Oliver © 2004

"Hey, Kyle." Summer walked over to Kyle in "The Shack" a hangout place for teenagers.

"Hey Summer. I didn't think you would come."

"Yeah, well, Nick is on vacation with his parents, he's coming back tonight." Summer intertwined her hand with Kyle's.

"Why don't you just brake it off with him?"

"I don't know. It's just that... well, I guess it would just feel weird without him, you know. We have been going out for three years. I can't remember a time without him."

Later that night, Nick comes home, he visit's summer at her house; they sit on the swing on the porch.

"Hey, Baby." Nick said lightly kissing Summer on the lips.

"Hey, yourself. How was vacation?"

"It was pretty good. But, I missed you."

"I missed you, too. Hey, my parents aren't home, they're on a business trip, they'll be back by tomorrow."

"Cool." Kyle said as they walked into Summer's house.

The next day, since her parents have the car, took the bus to school.

"Hey, Summer! Over here!" Christie called from the steps off the school.

"Hey, what's up?" Summer said, sitting next to her.

"I saw you at "The Shack" yesterday with Kyle. You and Nick are still going out aren't you?"

"Yeah, sure we are. My and Kyle are just friends."

Thankfully, the first bell just went off, so Christie and Summer walked into the school in silence. After school, Nick offered Summer a ride. Nick was unusually quiet.

"What's wrong, Nick. You're awfully quiet."

"Nothing, hon. I'm fine." Nick barely got the words out when a jeep came from the right and smashed into Summer. Kyle went to the hospital, with only a mild concussion. Summer was dead. While Kyle walked out of the hospital, he called his friend Justin, to see how he is doing.

"I'm fine, but I shouldn't have taken the jeep, I should've taken the truck. I got a bad headache."

"Sorry, but something had to be done about Summer." As he hung up, he smiled.
